I recently purchased a new dSLR outfit for shooting photo and video. My first assignment with the new camera was the annual Swag In The City Fashion Show at Club Rebel in Manhattan. If there was any assignment that would test the strength of my cinematic and photographic intelligence, this was it.
Shooting a fashion show in a nightclub setting can create tons of issues, from low lighting to mega-bass stereo systems. Luckily, I overlay tracks to most of my videos, which was a mission of it's own, but I digress. I shot the entire night using a f/1.8 aperture at an ISO of 6400, and I could have even went as high as ISO 12800 (but the grain would have been unbearable).
Even with all of the technical issues to deal with, I was very pleased with the end result, which gave the video a nice cinematic feel.
